About Peggy Casey Mason: The Art of Fearless Reinvention

From corporate life to the French countryside, Casey Mason's art embodies fearless reinvention. What began as a self-taught painting journey, influenced by Monet and others, developed into a life of vibrant abstraction that resonates with collectors worldwide.

Her early works featured delicate landscapes and still-lifes. A transformative workshop in Monet’s gardens led her to sell her U.S. home, leaving corporate life for the French countryside, where she turned a crumbling house into a French home while continuing her artistic practice.

In France, she found inspiration in Gerhard Richter, Joan Mitchell & Jackson Pollock, shifting her art towards intuitive abstractions celebrating nature and her transformation.

After a decade of abstraction, she returned to landscape painting, blending her new insights with her original inspirations.

Now back in the U.S., New Jersey based, Casey Mason creates oil on canvas landscapes and bold expressionism abstracts.

Artist Statement

With decades of spirited brushwork behind me, I sidestep fleeting trends with practiced grace, often engaging in an intimate dance with pigments in my cozy studio. My first twenty-odd years were devoted to plein-air painting traditional Impressionist oils, laying the enduring foundation of my artistic journey; in the fifteen years since, I have embraced the vibrant tumult of expressionist abstracts—audacious bursts of color that liberate the soul—while remaining ever faithful to those Impressionist roots. Each canvas, be it a radiant oil or a fervent abstract-emerging from pure instinct- I take an experimental approach driven by color and the need to not become myself leftover from yesterday.

My 35+year wink at convention infuses every stroke, transforming so-called “mistakes” into art’s sly nod to imperfection. Amid a landscape of polished feeds and cunning algorithms, I create abstracts to unleash my spirit and Impressionist works on occasion to celebrate my heritage, inviting viewers to embrace their own impromptu delights—perhaps a whimsical spin or an unplanned sketch. This is my quiet rebellion: exuberant, unbound, and resolutely authentic. After decades in this world, I ask—why not?
