"Soft Traverse" acrylic 48x48

As I continue on my untethered journey of “Unstructured Adventures 2025” this new piece hints at sprawling landscapes or whimsical natural wonders. Choosing my color palette was my only plan as with most of my intuitive abstracts. In retrospect, I had been thinking of Monet's gardens for days and after I had finished this piece I realized the colors chosen were similar to a small painting I have kept in my personal collection in which I created en-plein- air in Monet's gardens in 2003.

It is those colors that guided my hand in response to what my intuition tells me the canvas wants. I particularly love the brushstrokes and swirling patterns that introduce a sense of motion, suggesting the ebb and flow of natural landscapes, while remaining abstract in interpretation. The layered application of paint invites closer examination to uncover the numerous intricacies within.

Please take a look at the additional in-situ photos. This painting looks beautiful with a variety of aesthetics-mid-century modern, traditional, contemporary decor and even an oceanfront location. Although I'm not an interior decorator/designer, I love seeing contemporary abstracts in a traditional home. It's just stunning.
